A 17-year-old passenger died on South Road on 19 September and a 68-year-old pedestrian in Emerald Square on 22 September. The Met wants witnesses and footage for both.
Two people have died in road collisions in Southall in the space of four days. The Metropolitan Police has issued witness appeals for both, and wants dashcam, doorbell and phone footage from anyone who was nearby.
The first was on South Road in the early hours of Saturday 19 September. The second was in Emerald Square on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 September. Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are leading both inquiries.
The force has not suggested the two collisions are connected.
South Road, Saturday 19 September
Police were called at 01:04 to a collision involving one car, a Ford Mustang, on South Road. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.
A passenger in the car, Ranbir Singh, aged 17, died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics. The force named him in its appeal published on 21 September. A second passenger, a man aged 26, suffered serious injuries and remained in hospital when the force published its update.
Officers arrested the driver, aged 20, at the scene. The Met says Sukhveer Singh, 20, of Townsend Road, Southall, was charged on Sunday 20 September with:
- causing death by dangerous driving
- aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving
- driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
- using a vehicle without insurance
He appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 September. The force says he was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday 19 October. A charge is not a conviction, and we will not report on the case beyond what the force publishes.
Detective Inspector Fiaz Janjua said the investigation “remains ongoing”. He asked anyone who saw “the collision, the manner of driving beforehand, or the movements of the Ford Mustang in the Southall area during the early hours of Saturday, 19 September” to come forward.

Emerald Square, Tuesday 22 September
Police were called at about 13:38 to a collision between a van and a pedestrian in Emerald Square. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance.
A 68-year-old man died at the scene. The force has not named him. His next of kin have been told and are being supported by specialist officers, according to the Met’s appeal published on 24 September.
A 22-year-old man was arrested the same day on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified. He has been released on bail pending further investigation. He has not been charged, and the force has not named him.
DI Janjua, who is also leading this inquiry, said detectives were working “to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision”. He urged anyone in the area at the time, or with CCTV, dashcam, phone or doorbell footage, to contact police, “as this information could prove vital to our investigation”.

What it means for you
If you were on or near South Road in the early hours of Saturday 19 September, or saw a Ford Mustang being driven around Southall that night, call 101 and quote 01/8080469/26.
If you were in or near Emerald Square at around 1.30pm on Tuesday 22 September, call 101 and quote 01/8094116/26.
Check before you assume you have nothing useful. Dashcams and doorbell cameras record over themselves, often within days, so footage from either date may not survive much longer. The Met asks specifically for CCTV, doorbell, phone and dashcam recordings.
In an emergency, always call 999.
This week also brings roadworks to South Road, with a Cadent Gas contra-flow booked from 28 September to 2 October. Our Ealing roadworks page has the details.
