Ealing Climate Week runs 19 to 27 September with 52 listed events, all free except a £5 talk. Free Brompton hire with code EALINGCLIMATEWEEK for the first 100, and 10% off at Jewson Acton.

Ealing Climate Week runs from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 September. The published programme has grown to 52 listings since we first read it on 5 September, when it had 36. Every one of them is free except a £5 talk at Northfields Community Library.

Two of the 52 are not events at all. They are offers you can use any day of the week, and they are the most immediately useful things on the list.

The two things to do before the week starts

Free Brompton bike hire, for the first 100 people. Brompton is giving seven days of hire credit, worth £35, to anyone who redeems a code in its Bike Hire app. There is a dock near Ealing Broadway station. The steps, from the programme entry:

  1. Open the Brompton Bike Hire app and go to Settings, the cog in the top right.
  2. Choose Discounts, redeem a code.
  3. Enter EALINGCLIMATEWEEK.

The code is valid from 00:00 on 19 September until 23:59 on 27 September, and the listing states plainly that it is limited to 100 users. You do not need to register on the Climate Week site to use it.

Ten per cent off at Jewson in Acton. The branch at 2a High Street, W3 6LJ, is offering 10% off if you go in and mention Ealing Climate Week, quoting code ECW26. The listing points at draught-proofing, insulation and water-saving materials.

What is on, and when

Forty-six of the listings are single events on a fixed day inside the week. The busiest day is Thursday 24 September, with nine, followed by Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 with eight each. Saturday 26 is the quietest, with two. The rest are an exhibition open on three days, a drop-in hub open on two, three week-long offers and one event after the week has ended.

One listing from the 5 September programme has gone. The Industrial Decarb Breakfast for businesses on Friday 25 no longer appears. In its place, on the Monday morning, is a Good for Ealing Business Breakfast at Open Ealing in Dickens Yard, free with a light breakfast provided.

Which of these you have to book

Most of the programme is drop-in. These are not, and the ranger sessions have hard caps that will fill:

  • All five park ranger sessions ask you to register. Lammas Park, Blondin Park and Walpole Park take a maximum of 10 people each; Pitshanger Park and Hanger Hill Wood take 15.
  • The two Ealing Transition walking tours say numbers are limited and booking is essential, by email to steering@ealingtransition.org.uk.
  • The beaver safari, the two People’s Emergency Briefings and the bike ride all book through Eventbrite or a ticket page. The Wednesday briefing at Perceval House says spaces are limited.
  • The four heat pump visits book through the Visit a Heat Pump website, which gives you the address.
  • The allotment talk on 24 September costs £5 and can be booked online, in person at the library or by phone on 020 8579 2394. The Down to Earth soil workshop books the same way, free.
  • Energy Saving: Hints and Tips at the W13 Impact Hub asks you to register by phone on 07932 751553.

The Better Spaces fund launch and the allotment picnic ask you to register so the organisers know numbers. The two bat walks are free and public, but the organisers say they may be cancelled if it is too cold or too wet, so check on the day, and everyone under 18 must be with a parent or guardian.

Two things to check before you travel

The programme is compiled from listings submitted by the organisations running each event, and two entries still do not line up.

  • Saving Water in Our Gardens on Monday 21 September is tagged to Acton in the programme, but the address given is The DIG, 62 Green Lane, W7 2PB, which is Hanwell. Go by the postcode, not the tag.
  • The uniform and toy swap is listed under Climate Week but falls on Wednesday 30 September, after the week has ended.

Where the events actually are

Ealing Council describes the week as borough-wide, and the energy advice sessions genuinely are spread out: Northolt, Greenford, Acton, Southall, Ealing Broadway and the farmers’ market all get one.

The rest of the programme is not evenly spread. Going by the addresses published, 27 of the 52 listings are in Ealing itself, W5 postcodes and the four “Ealing, address on booking” entries. Acton has six, most of them at the ReActon hub on Stirling Road. West Ealing has five, Greenford and Perivale four between them, Hanwell three, and Northolt and Southall two each. Three are online or borough-wide. The additions since 5 September have helped Acton and Southall most: Southall had one listing then and now has two, with the NHS mental wellbeing session at OPEN Southall.

What it means for you

If you want the free bike hire, redeem the code early. It is capped at 100 users and the credit is worth £35, which makes it the single most valuable thing in the programme.

If you are worried about your energy bills this winter, the Green Doctor sessions are the practical ones, and there are six of them at libraries, a parkrun, a farmers’ market, Southall Town Hall and Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre. They are drop-in, so no booking to organise. The draught excluder workshop on Friday 25 at Perceval House is the hands-on version.

If you are thinking about a heat pump, four open-house visits run across the week, hosted by residents who have already had one installed. That is a rarer opportunity than it sounds.

If you have something broken, there are now three repair cafe sessions: Monday lunchtime at ReActon, Tuesday evening at Northfields Library and Wednesday lunchtime at Perceval House.

If you run a community group, the Better Spaces fund launch on 22 September at the Questors is where the council explains how to apply for grant funding for community buildings.

If you have children, the family-friendly listings include both bat walks, the beaver safari, the soil workshop, the bike ride and the allotment picnic.

If you are driving to any of it, check our Ealing roadworks and travel page first. For the rest of the autumn, our things to do in Ealing page carries what else is on.

The programme grew by 16 listings in the week after we first published, so check it again before you set out.

Frequently asked questions

When is Ealing Climate Week 2026?

It runs from Saturday 19 September to Sunday 27 September 2026, nine days. One listed event, a uniform and toy swap in Hanwell, falls after the week on Wednesday 30 September.

Is Ealing Climate Week free?

Almost entirely. Of the 52 published listings, only one charges: a £5 talk by Christina Fox of Ealing Dean Allotment Society at Northfields Community Library on 24 September.

How do I get the free Brompton bike hire?

Download the Brompton Bike Hire app, open Settings from the cog in the top right, choose Discounts and redeem a code, and enter EALINGCLIMATEWEEK. The code runs from 00:00 on 19 September to 23:59 on 27 September and is limited to 100 users. It gives seven days of hire credit, worth £35. There is a dock near Ealing Broadway station.

Which Ealing Climate Week events need booking?

The two Ealing Transition walking tours need booking by email. The beaver safari, both People’s Emergency Briefings, the Climate Week bike ride, the heat pump visits and the allotment talk book through ticket pages or the organiser’s website. The five park ranger sessions cap at 10 or 15 people each and ask you to register. The rest are drop-in.

Where are the energy advice sessions?

Six drop-in sessions run across the week: Northala Fields parkrun in Northolt on 19 September, Greenford Library on 22 September, Acton Library and Southall Town Hall on 24 September, Ealing Farmers’ Market on 26 September and Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre on 27 September.

Can I see the beavers at Paradise Fields?

The organisers say it is unlikely you will see the beavers on the guided tour itself, but you will see their dams and feeding signs, and you are welcome to stay afterwards at the viewing platform. The beavers were released in October 2023.
